MARTINE WEHREL

Sculptor Martine Wehrel loves all artistic materials.

In her Saint-Paul de Vence studio, the artist alternates between working with plaster, clay, resin, ceramics and lost wax bronze casting.

The artistic all-rounder also creates clay sculptures based on live subjects. Martine is truly passionate about her profession and shares that passion with her students.

After studying at the Beaux-Arts and Ecole du Louvre in Paris, Martine Wehrel felt an irresistible attraction towards sculpture. Ever since her artistic beginnings, she has been fascinated by capturing the expression on a face, the grace of a body, the elegance of a pose and the natural spontaneity of a gesture. She has honed her ability through intense observation of the living world.

Her precise observations are expressed with great finesse and have earned her a place among the great sculptors of this generation. Her achievements have namely been honoured by a number of well-deserved awards.

The impression that emanates from Martine Wehrel’s smooth figures is a striking form of harmony, a feeling of balance with a soft touch of almost tangible sensuality.

She herself says it best: "emotion, sensitivity and femininity drive my work". Upon contact with the artist’s work, the viewer becomes one with her creative world thanks to the universal feelings she conveys.
