La Fondation Maeght: The Marguerite and Aimé Maeght Foundation is the fruit of artists and an architect, Josep Lluis Sert. It breathes art and celebrates art. Exhibitions, set against a backdrop of greenery, are strong and eclectic. The Foundation boasts almost 9,000 works of art, offering an exceptional and panoramic overview of modern and contemporary art. Léger, Braque and Giacometti continue to watch over the spirit of the place. The gardens are conducive to contemplation; take a stroll in its fairytale universe peopled with sculptures and harbouring a maze designed by Miro. | Saint-Paul's Museum The history of Saint-Paul's Museum is closely entwined with the art world. This Middle Age residence owes its revival to the School of Saint-Paul, which inaugurated the Musée de Saint-Paul in 1964. The premises were to be opened to the village's artists and craftsmen. Some annual exhibitions perpetuate the tradition around various themes:heritage, architecture, life in Saint-Paul, etc. |
Local History Museum: Devoted to local history, this museum is like a time-travel capsule, plunging visitors into a medieval atmosphere. Man has preserved some of his roots; they help us to understand the present and to appreciate the remains that surround us. Wax figures and period costumes (produced by the Musée Grévin, the famous waxworks museum in Paris) help to conjure up the greatest hours in Saint-Paul's history. The photo room houses temporary exhibitions of the most beautiful and the most unusual shots from the municipal photo-library, taken by Jacques Gomot. |
